Brass & Wood Postal Scale. Purchased in England in the early 1970's. The scale is unsigned but most likely it is English and dates to around the 1900. It is made of brass and sits on a wooden base. The letter pan is engraved with the postal rates of the time: "Inland Letter Postal Rates. Letters. 1D For First 4 Ounces & ½ D For Every Additional 2 Ounces. Book Post. ½ D For 2 Ounces (Limit). There are four brass weights: 4oz / 2oz / 1oz /1/2oz and two magnetic metal 8 oz. weights. It is very good condition. The base measures 12” x 6” and stands approx. 5 ½” tall. On the wooden base, there are marks from scale hitting the wood instead of the brass points. See photos.
